My Ol' Girl

My ol’ girl’s gotta big ol’ world, gotta big ol’ world
She slipped away.
I hear around midnight she climbed aboard a plane.
Well, she flew all night throughout the next day
Until she came upon a lake
Said you should let me out ‘cause I think I’ll be okay.
What did I say? Yeah, I said
Not one night can I live without your sweet
Body next to mine.
So won’t you come back home with me?
Like having a best friend within reach.
Wishin’ we grew up on the same street.
Oh yeah…. Wuh, uh, uh, oh…
She swam to shore n’ there she stole a mountain bike
Took to the road.
Climbed the highest mountain she has even known.
She stretched those eyes far and wide as she could see.
She don’t see me.
Enough to make such a pretty girl feel lonely.
What did I say? Yeah, I said
Not one night can I live without your sweet
Body next to mine.
So won’t you come back home with me?
Like having a best friend within reach.
Wishin’ we grew up on the same street.
Oh yeah…. Wuh, uh, uh, oh…

Oh, last night I think I did a bad thing
I broke into your house while you were gone
I’m embarrassed but I rifled through your things
Read your diary even though I know it’s wrong
Now I don’t care about anything
It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it
And I’m just the one who’s gonna do it
Now I don’t care about anything
At all. At all. Hey now
So shocked to learn that you were more than friends
So urgent you just had to write it down
Then to read it in your own writing, you see
Makes me glad I broke the law and your door down
But now I don’t care about anything
It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it
And I’m just the one who’s gonna do it
Now I don’t care about anything
At all. At all. Hey now
You ride your high horse
Hope it throws you to the ground
Next time put pen to paper
Write this new ending down, down…
Tonight I’ll go out camping all alone
Just an ol’ dog and a sleeping bag for me
I’ll enjoy my solitude and not complain
And maybe someday I will love again
But now I don’t care about anything
It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it
And I’m just the one who’s gonna do it
Now I don’t care about anything
At all. At all.
How we gonna do this now?
I said how we gonna do this now?
How we gonna do it? How we gonna do it?
How we gonna do it right here, right now without anything?
